By car                              

To get from San José to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca (not to be confused with Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui) you take from San José the 3^rd street (Calle 3) towards Limón. Following this road it will lead you through the spectacular cloud forest of the Braulio Carillo National Park and then via Guapiles and Siquirres to Limon (150 km or 95 miles). In Limón you turn right at the Texaco gas station after passing the cemetery. Follow the sign towards Puerto Viejo. From Limon to Puerto Viejo it is about 60 km (37 miles).
